Helping Hands 2007 Joins UnityFest, Nov 3, 11 to 5

The Helping Hands Fair brings nonprofit community organizations together to raise awareness about services and programs, and to increase volunteers and support for our Merced community organizations.  There is power in coming together, including more publicity and recognition.

 

This year, Helping Hands is joining a larger effort to bring more people together: UnityFest.

Collaborating with Healthy House and the UC Merced Office of Student Life, the Community Partnership Alliance is holding the Helping Hands 2007 at UnityFest. This first of a kind, university-community festival aims to raise awareness of and celebrate the wonderfully diverse cultures of our community through a full day of performances, cultural cuisine, music, educational discussion and presentations, and kid-friendly activities. UnityFest aims to have something for everyone. Along with multicultural festivities and fun, UnityFest aims to draw over 2,000 people to the UC Merced campus, many of whom will be visiting the campus for the first time. The event will be free to the public, will have free parking, and free transportation from downtown & South Merced to the university campus.

 

If you are a nonprofit organization and are not planning to sell things or fundraise, then you can have a booth for FREE.  If you do fundraise or sell items, the cost for a nonprofit booth is $25.  Nonprofit organizations will be provided with a 6 foot table and 2 chairs already set up on the day of the event.
